PUMA’s First Year

Rob Kraft, our President, shares his personal reflections after celebrating PUMA Utility Monitoring Inc.'s first birthday.

“I don’t think I am going out on a limb by stating that 2020 has not turned out the way we hoped when we rang in the new year on January first. To say the least, it was a year in which there was unprecedented use of the term ‘unprecedented’. And yet, despite it all, 2020 will always have a special positive memory for me – because midway through 2020, PUMA celebrated its first birthday as an independent company.

As some of you may recall, back on August 1, 2019, we excitedly announced that PUMA was emerging from Prism Engineering as its own entity. It was also the date when I joined the team with a focus on the next stage in the evolution & growth of our product & services.

At the time, I was struck by how much the PUMA team & leadership had accomplished, including the value they brought to & the relationships they had built with clients. And to this day, I never tire of hearing great feedback from our customers about how they rely on PUMA’s outstanding service to provide them the reports & insights they need to perform effective energy management.

I am especially proud of how the team adapted to the upheaval in all our routines & continued to focus on meeting our commitments to product quality, continuous improvement & innovation. The team quickly accommodated the physical & technological transition to working remotely - which pleasantly included introductions to other family members on the occasional video call.

The development team delivered some key new custom dashboard & report features while the operations team continued to deliver reports & find new ways of meeting customer needs. The PUMA Spring Workshop moved to an online format & still provided a valuable forum for learning about new features & opportunities for feedback.

As we look forward to the rest of PUMA’s second year, we are cognizant that we are still in the midst of unprecedented times & their potential challenges. At the same time, there is increasing appreciation of the importance of green technology & emissions reduction as drivers for sustainable long-term recovery & health. The need to react to climate change is becoming more & more urgent every day. Buoyed by the team’s performance in our first year, I am excited about how we can increase our contribution to reduce climate change in the year ahead.

Wishing everyone a healthy & meaningful holiday season and looking forward to connecting with you in the new year.”

-Rob Kraft, President of PUMA Utility Monitoring Inc.
